Klare Illusion

A corpse remains a corpse. Silence, nothingness, and yet something in between death and life.
No longer a human being, no longer a living body.
The processes of decay gradually decompose every part that once belonged to a person.
The hidden uncertainty within can be perceived through the transformation of forms.
Natural influences of time and decay erase every trace of a body.

For the past four years, I have been conceptually engaged with brutality, death, and the feeling of human suffering. I’ve felt alien in the world and came to the conclusion that her surroundings are not real, since every human being is physically limited and receives false or incomplete information. People cannot comprehend the whole of nature with all its uncertainties.
In my works, I focus on the body, which, in its attempt to satisfy the imagination, is repeatedly confronted with failure and repression. I seek to represent this process—and the discomfort and pain it produces—in an abstracted form.
To this end, I’ve chosen various materials such as silicone, glass, textiles, or kombucha, using them to create artworks that either resemble flayed human skin or invisible bodily forms.

Breaks through even the immutable

In nature, everything is in a state of flux and liberation—liberation from memory and liberation from permanence. To render things permanent in the present moment is impossible; the ‘frozen’ object exists, yet the viewer discovers and moves past it only in the fleeting moment of perceiving and experiencing the object. An object whose liberation has been suppressed remains there, but the viewer, too, eventually turns away from it. This discovery and engagement with the object by the viewer, in these moments, is a historical blossoming that imparts different information to each individual. It is neither complete nor incomplete.
